WASHINGTON, D.C. Sep. 30, 2021 — Aurora Tights, a black women-owned brand, is partnering with Howard University's Oh La La! Dance Line to launch its new shimmery tights in various shades on its website auroratights.com. Aurora’s new shimmery tights are the first of their kind as other products like them have only been made for light skin complexions. This partnership aims to right an industry wrong and empower black performers with apparel built with them in mind.

The Aurora Tights founders, Imani Rickerby, Jasmine Snead, and Sydney Parker, consist of a figure skater, synchronized ice skater, and a competitive dancer with over 60 years of performing experience combined. From personal experience, they understood the challenges of not having the appropriate gear for their sports and founded Aurora Tights to help correct the problem. Aurora Tights launches their new shimmery tights for all performers, including band dancers; historically, no hosiery had been made for a population that exclusively wears this product. Now, this black-women-owned business is helping band dancers perform in color.

As stated by Marian Wright Edelman, “You can’t be what you can’t see.” Aurora Tights helps make it easier for women of all shades and sizes to excel in sports they love and provide examples for generations to come that they do belong in their sports. With the new shimmery tights, band dancers from schools such as Howard University will be able to show the world how they perform in color and display their talent without being held back by the incorrect gear.

Aurora Tights encourages everyone to Perform in Color and is excited to see the amazing things talented athletes will do in their new shimmery tights. Since 2018, Aurora Tights has been uplifting and promoting diversity in sports and dancewear through its complexion-inclusive tights line and will continue to do so.

About Aurora Tights
Aurora Tights was created in January 2018. The name Aurora Tights is a play on the Aurora Lights, a natural display of bright and colorful dancing lights in the Earth's sky. Since its inception, Aurora Tights has been an inclusive athletic apparel brand, but more importantly, a safe space that empowers all athletes to perform in color.
