Posted By: Suzan McDowell on April 15, 2022 On Wednesday April 20th, 2022, 4pm-6pm, Our Money Matters presents the Campus & Coins DJ Mix-up, an edutainment event bringing together students from Southern University at New Orleans (SUNO) and Dillard University for an evening of financial literacy awareness, including a panel of financial experts, a student DJ "Mix-Up" (one from each campus, spinning music with a financial theme), and a crowd-pleasing finish from Aux Cord Wars, the premiere traveling campus DJ troupe. To bring local flair to the event, the award-winning Zulu Tramps will close the show. Entry to the event is FREE with registration at www.ourmoneymatters.com This exciting event is expected to attract hundreds of students and will take place at SUNO Arts, Sciences, and Humanities Auditorium, 6400 Press Dr., New Orleans, LA 70126. “We are collaborating with HBCUs and MSIs (Minority Serving Institutions) across the country to produce an educational and entertaining event that bridges financial gurus and today’s hottest entertainment to further promote the importance of financial wellness and having financial confidence,” stated Sharon Kent, Program Director, Our Money Matters. Our Money Matters (OMM) is a $5.6 million financial wellness initiative by the HBCU Community Development Action Coalition (HBCU CDAC), funded exclusively by the Wells Fargo Foundation, created to help Black and people of color college students improve their financial stability, reduce stress and college debt, and accelerate financial inclusion. Over three years, OMM will engage 25 HBCU and Minority Serving Institution (MSI) campuses across the U.S., equipping roughly 30,000 students and community members with much needed financial capability skills, personalized tools for managing finances and student loans, and access to support services like career closets and emergency financial assistance.
