Posted By: Kennedy Williams on November 24, 2022 The Norfolk State University Board of Visitors extended the contract of President Dr. Javaune Adams-Gaston to 2027. “On behalf of the board, we felt that President Adams-Gaston has done an amazing job, not only servicing Norfolk State, the campus, and the local community, but she's also gone above and beyond,” said Board of Visitors Rector Devon Henry. “From Dr. J’s service to the White House to serving on the NCAA board, she really is a great ambassador for the university.” In remarks, Rector Henry elaborated on the Board's reasoning. “We thought it would be very important that we ensure that there's continuity at this time,” Henry said. “We’re very pleased that we are having an extension to 2027. We’re very excited about the work she's doing and look forward to what she's going to do in the future.” “I am very appreciative of the NSU community and the continuous support I have been provided, and very grateful for the faith that the Board of Visitors has placed in me,” said Dr. Adams-Gaston. “It is an honor and a privilege to lead Norfolk State as its seventh president. I firmly believe that our future is bright and promising.” Dr. Javaune Adams-Gaston began her tenure on June 24, 2019.
