From HBCU Seminarian To Elected Official
|
Posted By: Donna Vanhook on January 16, 2024 My seminary experiences in conjunction with my ministerial journey has guided me to run for office a third time. I first ran for mayoral office nearly three years ago. It was a good run in the primary election against an incumbent, a councilmember and three other candidates, all white men. I finished in third place for the nonpartisan race. The following year, I ran for a local government office, Soil and Water Conservation District Supervisor. I was the only Democrat on the ballot who won a race in the county. Now, I am campaigning for state senate. Only God knows the outcome. I will enjoy the journey!
