Acceptance to the roster places Prof. Payton among a competitive pool of candidates eligible to be matched with projects designed by host institutions in more than 150 countries worldwide. Prof. Payton earned admission to the roster after a lengthy application process and the recommendation of a peer review panel. The highly selective Fulbright Specialist Program is an initiative of the U.S. Department of State, Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs that sends U.S. faculty and professionals to serve as researchers and expert consultants on curriculum, faculty development, institutional planning, and related subjects to overseas academic institutions abroad for a period of 2 to 6 weeks. Prof. Payton’s media experience dates back 30 years, during which he founded the Emerging Diversity Education Foundation nonprofit and national automotive magazines, broadcast programs, and events that helped increase diversity inclusion in the auto industry’s segments and subsegments. He built bridges between the auto industry, business and community organizations, government, congressional and state politicians, professional athletes, celebrities, and trade organizations. A graduate of the University of the District of Columbia, Prof. Payton returned last year to teach journalism. Prof. Payton is interested developing an academic curriculum and training program on automotive multimedia in Africa to help create a pool of journalists to meet the continent's rapidly growing transportation industry. Other projects that Prof. Payton may undertake include: · Delivering seminars and workshops · Delivering lectures · Development of the host institution’s media curriculum on entrepreneurial journalism If you enjoyed this article, Join HBCU CONNECT today for similar content and opportunities via email! |
