DREAMS...

DREAMS...
Posted By: Teshima Watson on June 13, 2006

Lately I've been talking to a friend about the dreams I've been having. As a psy-major I'm well aware that I'm certified insane because I dream in color and my dreams are vivid. My friend (whom I should add is a self-proclaimed interpreter of dreams) thinks writeing my dreams down is a good way to help me figure out what the dreams are relying to me. So I thought what better place to write my dreams than on HBCUconnect. So here is one of my most recent dreams. (And I am open to any interpretation you may have)
The dream begins very calm and tranquil: I'm sitting on the sand watching the waves of the beach crest. And this is fine because I love the beach and i derive many pleasures from being there. But the next thing I can remember is that instead of it being a nice peaceful day, it turned into a bleak and (for lack of a better word at the moment) scary day. The sky instanteously began black the water rose way above sea level and the waves were crashing onto the shore.

After that I remember sitting on a rock in the middle of this sea storm but the water wasn't touching me, although it had raisen above the level of the rock I was sitting on. And I just remembered thinking that I wasn't going to die right there but I would die (now this is the crazy part because I can remember my thoughts from the dream). Then as I began thinking about trying to swim to my death everything returned to normal: The sun was setting the tide was decreasing and I was peacefully sitting on the sand.
When I woke up from this dream I felt a mixture of emotions. First I was confused, then a sense of dread and anxiety, finally a sudden ease came over me as if to say that I have nothing to worry about. Its weird but as I type the dream and I remember the sequence of events that took place in it I'm gaining a certain understanding of what the dream was about.
I seeked my peace in meditation on the beach. However my soul wasn't at ease (hence the sudden storm) but the problems that filled my mind weren't (or aren't) enough to kill my spirit. Or aren't worth spending endless hours being fixated on the same problems. In the end I right back were I started, however more peaceful than I started out because I've "weathered the storm" so to speak.
This is interesting.

Also as a psy-major, i believe we dream for a reason, rather if it's reflecting on our past, present or future, or releasing unconscious thoughts, either way, dreams mean something. Could it be that you are experiencing change in your life, rather if it's a new school year, a move, etc. and you are anxious about what may happen as a result of this. If this dream represents your past, ask yourself about the trials and tribulations you had growing up they may still be stuck with you in your unconscious and the dream showed how you conquered it. If it's the present you may be anxious about a change soon to come. And if it's about the future, maybe you are scared and have doubts about how you're life is going. Think about it, i may be wrong, after all, i'm not a dream interpreter, lol.
