HOWARD UNIVERSITY GOLF TEAM SCHEDULED FOR TOURNAMENT AT HISTORIC SCOTTISH COURSE

The tournament, presented by TopGolf and World Wide Technology, will feature a field of four institutions: Howard University, the University of Arizona, Northwestern University, and the host institution, St. Andrews. Howard University is notably the only Historically Black College and University (HBCU) participating in this year’s event. Scheduled from October 14-16, the tournament will unfold over three days at the historic St. Andrews Links, known as the birthplace of golf. The competition format includes two days of stroke play on the Jubilee Course, followed by medal match play on the legendary Old Course at St. Andrews. NBC Sports will provide live coverage of the tournament in the United States, airing on the GOLF Channel and streaming on Peacock. In the United Kingdom, Sky Sports will broadcast the event, ensuring global visibility for this prestigious collegiate golf competition. Neil Coulson, Chief Executive of St. Andrews Links Trust, expressed enthusiasm about hosting the second annual St. Andrews Links Collegiate tournament, highlighting the significance of having renowned institutions like Howard University, Arizona, Northwestern, and St. Andrews competing on such a storied stage. Coulson emphasized the event’s role in offering a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for student-athletes to showcase their skills and compete in a historic setting, with the added prestige of live television coverage enhancing the experience. For Howard University’s golf teams, this event represents not only a chance to compete at the highest collegiate level but also an opportunity to further establish their presence in the sport of golf. The men’s team aims to defend their Northeast Conference (NEC) title this season, while the women’s team focuses on their pursuit of an NEC championship in spring 2025.
