Strategic Communications apb@apbrantley.com February 2, 2023 EX-NBA TYRO/HBCU GRAD TAKES HIATUS FROM NBLC Autry Parker Brantley Takes Sabbatical to Focus on Other Opportunities MEMPHIS, TN — The National Basketball League of Canada's (NBLC) Back-to-Back (2014 & 2015) Champion Windsor Express’ director of global scouting, Autry Parker Brantley, is "stepping away" after several years with the franchise to focus on other professional opportunities. During his time with Express, he served as scout, director of college scouting, director of international and college scouting, and director of global scouting reporting to the vice president of basketball operations and ownership. Brantley primarily worked in the Americas, spearheading the scouting of many uniquely talented men's basketball student-athletes at all levels of the NCAA, NAIA, NJCAA, and FIBA sanctioned leagues. "Working for the Express—under the auspices of NAFTA/CUSMA—has been a heuristic experience, and I appreciate the opportunities it and 'Ô Canada' have afforded me," Brantley states. "Kudos to ownership who has made it the second longest operating franchise in Canada’s longest running professional basketball league." As a result of Canada's COVID-19 precautionary restrictions, the league contracted to four teams. In 2022, the NBLC began a cross-border partnership with The Basketball League—lead by former NBLC Commissioner NBA vet David Magley and his wife Evelyn Magley the CEO—and played a 24-game schedule to materialize its 10th season. Today, the Express are in its 10th season. "Since 2011, contrary to some beliefs, the National Basketball League of Canada has actually been a stable professional basketball league; of almost 12 markets. While the pandemic was an imposition for many entities, I'm hopeful those teams will return, and the league can add at least four teams out west," said Brantley. Brantley, having been executive vice president and assistant general manager for the ABA Norfolk Navigators expansion franchise, coupled with his work in college and professional sports, including stints with the Detroit Tigers, Palace Sports & Entertainment, 2004 NBA Champion Detroit Pistons, the NBA Orlando Magic, as well as a basketball coach and director in the NCAA and NFHS, he is an experienced sports professional. "Instead of a wooden casket, I see a glowing portal—a eutopia. As the league expands, I wish the Express all the best up there in “The Barn” and I want to recognize the Jones brothers for the invitation.
