At this inaugural event the Association recognized these esteemed “Top 40 Under 40” young alumni for their commitment to their professional craft, contributions to their community and their post-graduation accomplishments. The awards ceremony took placed on Thursday, October 10, 2024, to kick off Cheyney University’s homecoming weekend at the Springfield Country Club in Springfield, Pennsylvania. These esteemed honorees exemplify a broad range of high achievements in the medical, film and television, academia, entertainment, government, finance, law, journalism, broadcasting, sports, community advocacy, and political professions. Following Cheyney University’s motto, “Today’s Leaders, Tomorrow’s Leaders, CUNAA President Verron Hayspell understands the importance of recognition and involvement from the university’s alumni. Recognizing the younger generation of Cheyney graduates with this inaugural ceremony will lead to future endeavors. President Hayspell explained the mission behind the “Top 40 Under 40” alumni awards as a way “to engage our younger alumni, acknowledge their accomplishments and lets the world know that Cheyney alumni can compete with graduates from any institution in the world.” This event, President Hayspell continued, “also will help create the Young Alum Council, a national graduate chapter for younger alumni, to have their own events, fundraisers and activities.” The CUNAA “Top 40 Under 40” recognition shall represent perhaps the most sought-after award in the country for alumni and professionals under the age of 40. The final selections represent a multitude of professionals, including professional athletes, doctoral candidates, radio & television broadcasters, medical surgeons, academicians, Hollywood actors, elected officials, government officials, community activists, lawyers, professors and more.
