The event marked a celebration of tradition, excellence, and the arrival of a new generation of leaders in the Divine Nine. Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc.: Leadership on the Rise Leading the line for Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. was Sheval Porter, a freshman already making an impression on campus. As the Royal Escort to Miss Senior, Porter showcased charisma, discipline, and poise during the probate. His performance paid tribute to Alpha Phi Alpha’s storied history and its commitment to cultivating leaders who exemplify manly deeds, scholarship, and love for all mankind. Porter’s debut signals the continuation of a legacy that has shaped icons like Martin Luther King Jr., Thurgood Marshall, and W.E.B. Du Bois. Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.: A Legacy of Excellence The women of Delta Sigma Theta commanded the stage with a probate themed “Crimson Queens: Heralds of Social Change,” reflecting their commitment to service and sisterhood. The line featured several notable campus leaders, including: Fendian Pollock, Senior and reigning Miss UDC, whose grace and poise were a standout highlight. Jaydn Turner, Sophomore and Vice President of the Chess Club, who brought strategy and vibrance to her performance. Deonna Cain, Senior and former Miss Junior (2023-24), whose experience and charisma left a lasting impression. Joined by other dynamic new members, the line delivered a powerful presentation steeped in the values of Delta Sigma Theta, celebrating their sisterhood and commitment to public service. A Celebration of Brotherhood and Sisterhood The Fall 2024 probate embodied the rich culture of Greek life at UDC, highlighting the impact of the Divine Nine in empowering leaders and fostering lifelong bonds. The crowd, adorned in black and gold for the Alphas and crimson and cream for the Deltas, cheered with pride as each group showcased their dedication to their organization’s history and mission. New Members, New Legacies As they transition into active membership, the new Alphas and Deltas are set to make a meaningful impact on UDC’s campus and the broader community. Their passion, energy, and commitment are a testament to the enduring legacy of the Divine Nine at HBCUs nationwide. The Fall 2024 probate at UDC was more than an event; it was a celebration of history, unity, and the bright future ahead for these outstanding new members.
