The "Missing Link" in the Theory of Evolution: Before Evolution, the Building Blocks of Intelligence

Posted By: Sydney Herrera on January 16, 2025

Today we know that to transform a machine into an autonomous asset, we must introduce intelligence, in machines this is our Artificial Intelligence (AI). There are several prerequisites to any AI, one of which is multiple types of sensors.

In order to develop sensors (light, sound, chemical, location etc.) we must have very in-depth knowledge of what the sensors must respond to, that knowledge must include even the variations within the source to be detected or monitored, such is the case with light or sound, sensors can be built to monitor/detect specific ranges such as ultraviolet, visible or infrared light.

Anyone observing one of our autonomous drones, who had no knowledge of the multiple types of sensors employed (LIDAR, radar, pressure, temperature, GPS etc) would not be aware of the lead time involved in the development of all the various sensors that are required to ensure that our drone can react in real-time so that it can appear intelligent.

So first we had to understand these "forces of nature" (light/sound/temperature etc.) so that we could build sensors to react to specific ranges, we could then build "application specific" sensors and install them with the processing capability so that the drone would react to the input if was receiving from the various sensors immediately or in "real-time". So prior to being implemented, each sensor must be "perfected".

When we observe a plant (e.g.

phototropism) turn toward light, we are observing it responding to light sensors, all living things have a variety of sensors, memory, processing and information transmission capabilities that must have been developed BEFORE implementation in living organisms!

The implementation of these systems (sensors, memory, processing and transmission) are responsible for the Intrinsic Intelligence (II) that is present in all living things. It is what enables spiders, bird, fish and in fact all plants and animals to function logically while amazing us with their abilities. II is also responsible for our autonomous functions like our digestive or our immune systems, so it is in fact prevalent throughout all living things.

So what Sir Charles Darwin observed and published in 1859, and which form the basis of our Theory of Evolution was in fact at least the second phase in the development of life. The "engineering" of the "systems" that are necessary for the intelligence that results in mutations based on changes in the environment had to occur prior to inclusion in the plants and animals observed.

This also accounts for the lack of "illogical" mutation, mutations are "logically driven" in response to stresses, and thus throughout our archaeological records, all our discoveries are of "logical" changes, there are no "random" or illogical mutations (even when species go extinct, there are logical reasons!).

We need to recognize that there must have been a period prior to the evolutionary record as we know it, where Intelligence that is superior to our current AI had to be developed. And since sensor (as well as memory etc.) development requires advanced knowledge of all "forces of nature", that there must be research with the intent to unveil the secrets of this period.

We also need to acknowledge this period of II development with whatever adjustments are necessary to our current acceptance of the Theory of Evolution to include this new knowledge.
