ATLANTA — The Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC), one of the premier NCAA Division II athletic conferences for Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs), announced its weekly men's basketball standouts on Tuesday, February 3rd. This recognition shines a well-deserved spotlight on the talented student-athletes representing HBCU programs within the SIAC.

The two players honored this week are JerMontae Hill of Morehouse College and Danny Delgardo III of Fort Valley State University. Both players delivered exceptional performances on the court, showcasing the depth of basketball excellence found at HBCUs across the country.

Key Takeaway: The SIAC's weekly player recognition highlights the remarkable talent and dedication of HBCU student-athletes, providing well-deserved acclaim for their contributions to their teams and the broader HBCU community.

JerMontae Hill, Morehouse College

JerMontae Hill, a standout for the Morehouse College Maroon Tigers, was named the SIAC Men's Basketball Player of the Week. The junior guard from Atlanta, Georgia, averaged an impressive 22.5 points, 6.5 rebounds, 2.5 assists, and 2.5 steals per game over the course of two conference victories for Morehouse.

Hill's dominant performances were instrumental in helping the Maroon Tigers maintain their position atop the SIAC standings.

As a key leader on the team, his consistent production and all-around contributions have been crucial to Morehouse's success this season.

Danny Delgardo III, Fort Valley State University

Danny Delgardo III, a senior guard for the Fort Valley State University Wildcats, was named the SIAC Men's Basketball Newcomer of the Week. Delgardo, a transfer student from South Georgia Technical College, averaged 17.5 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 2.5 assists per game as the Wildcats split their two conference matchups.

Delgardo's scoring prowess and playmaking ability have been invaluable assets for the Wildcats this season, as they continue to compete for a top spot in the SIAC standings. His impressive performance in recent games has solidified his status as a key contributor for Fort Valley State University.

"These student-athletes have demonstrated their commitment to excellence both on and off the court, and their achievements are a testament to the caliber of talent found at HBCUs across the country," said HBCUConnect.com Editor-in-Chief, John Smith.

The SIAC is one of the most competitive NCAA Division II conferences, with a rich history of producing exceptional student-athletes who excel in both academics and athletics.
