Posted By: Will Moss on February 15, 2026

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — The Miles Golden Bears overcame some early defensive miscues to secure a decisive series sweep over the LeMoyne-Owen Magicians in their opening Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) matchup at the historic Rickwood Field. Led by standout performances from sophomore outfielder Malachi Jeffries, the Golden Bears took the first game 12-9 before clinching the series with a 4-2 victory in the nightcap.

In the opening contest, the Golden Bears jumped out to an early lead, plating 12 runs on the strength of timely hitting and smart baserunning. However, a few defensive lapses allowed the Magicians to claw their way back into the game, making it a nail-biter down the stretch. But Jeffries came through in the clutch, delivering a key hit that helped Miles hold on for the 12-9 win.

Riding the momentum of their Game 1 triumph, the Golden Bears continued their dominance in the series finale. Jeffries again proved to be the difference-maker, recording the game-winning hit to propel Miles to a 4-2 victory and the series sweep.
