Edward Waters Tigers Roar to 10th Straight Win, Earn Votes in National Poll
Posted By: Will Moss on February 15, 2026

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The Edward Waters University Tigers women's basketball team is on a historic roll, racking up their 10th consecutive victory and earning votes in the prestigious WBCA Top 25 Poll.

The Tigers' impressive run has propelled them to the top of the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) East Division standings, setting the stage for an exciting postseason push.

Under the guidance of head coach Taj Petteway, the Tigers have been a dominant force on the court, showcasing their tenacious defense and balanced offensive attack. The team's chemistry and cohesion have been on full display, as they continue to steamroll through their conference schedule.

Key Takeaway: The Edward Waters Tigers' 10-game winning streak and national recognition are a testament to the talent and hard work of the team, as well as the strong tradition of excellence at this historic HBCU institution.

Among the standout performers for the Tigers has been Janasia Law, a junior guard who is averaging a team-high 16.3 points per game. Law's scoring prowess, coupled with her playmaking abilities, has been a driving force behind the team's success.

Joining Law in the backcourt is fellow junior Jada Perry, who has been a defensive stalwart, averaging 2.5 steals per game.

The duo's high-intensity play has set the tone for the Tigers' relentless style of basketball.

The Tigers' balanced scoring attack has also seen contributions from Ariana Emanuel, a sophomore forward who is averaging a double-double with 12.1 points and 10.2 rebounds per game. Emanuel's consistent production in the paint has been instrumental in the team's success.

"This team has really come together and bought into our system," said Coach Petteway. "We're playing with a lot of confidence and energy, and that's been the key to our winning streak."

As the Tigers continue their quest for a SIAC championship and a berth in the NCAA Division II tournament, the HBCU community has taken notice of their remarkable accomplishments. The team's inclusion in the WBCA Top 25 Poll, even if just with votes, is a testament to the hard work and dedication of the players and coaching staff.
