HUNTSVILLE, Ala. — The Miles College Lady Bears entered Friday night's NCAA Division II South Region Tournament with heightened expectations and unprecedented momentum. Coming off a program-record 25-win season, the Golden Bears faithful believed this would be the year their team would finally break through in postseason play.

Making their third consecutive appearance in the NCAA Division II South Region Tournament, the Lady Bears carried more optimism than ever before. This year's squad had accumulated more victories than any previous team in program history, earned a higher tournament seed than in past appearances, and possessed valuable postseason experience that many believed would prove crucial in advancing beyond the first round.

Historic Achievement: The 2024-25 Lady Bears set a new program record with 25 wins, surpassing all previous teams in Miles College women's basketball history.

Despite the historic regular season success and the advantage of returning tournament experience, the Lady Bears were unable to achieve their goal of advancing to the second round.

The tournament appearance marked another chapter in the program's recent postseason journey, though it ended without the breakthrough victory the team had hoped to secure.

The Lady Bears' remarkable season featured several program milestones:

  • Program-record 25 victories
  • Third consecutive NCAA Division II South Region Tournament appearance
  • Highest tournament seeding in program history
  • Continued growth and development of postseason experience

While Friday night's result wasn't what the Miles College community envisioned, the Lady Bears' 2024-25 campaign represents significant progress for the program. The team's ability to consistently reach the NCAA postseason demonstrates the foundation being built in Fairfield, Alabama, and the commitment to excellence within the women's basketball program.

The record-setting win total and sustained tournament appearances signal a bright future for Miles College women's basketball, even as the team looks to take the next step in postseason competition. The experience gained from three consecutive tournament appearances provides valuable lessons that the program can build upon in future seasons.
