OS-HBCU Tour Program

Posted By: Damon Bell on July 28, 2026 First, I would like to tell you a little about the OS-HBCU Tour Program. Myself, my wife Mrs. Gina Bell, our two daughters, Mrs. Mikea Jones and Ms. Ebonee Bell, Mr. Phil Simons (Assistant Principal at Olathe South HS), and Mrs. Leslie Simons (Assistant Principal at Santa Fe Middle school), all came together to create and implement an “OS-HBCU Tour program” for our students at Olathe South High School. We also formed an OS-HBCU committee and an OS-HBCU Support Staff. Olathe South is the first Olathe school to have an “HBCU Tour Program” and we are very passionate about it and excited to take our students to tour HBCU schools (It should be noted that all students can apply to attend the OS-HBCU tour). We started the “OS-HBCU Tour program” in December of 2024 and our first HBCU Tour was a one-day trip to Lincoln University in Jefferson City, MO. We also tour UAPB-2025, Langston University-2026. The tour was a big success, in fact this year, we had almost double the number of students that put in an application to attend the “2027 OS-HBCU Tour Program.
