The New & Improved 2026 Audi Q3 Compact Luxury SUV

The New & Improved 2026 Audi Q3 Compact Luxury SUV
Posted By: Randi Payton on August 06, 2026

For over a decade, the Audi Q3 has served as the entry point into the German luxury automaker's lineup. As Audi's top-selling entry-level SUV, it has built a reputation for combining high-quality craftsmanship, innovative technology, and everyday practicality in a compact package. After driving the all-new 2026 Audi Q3 S line quattro, I realized that Audi has done more than just redesign its smallest SUV; it has turned it into a vehicle that feels like it belongs in the upper luxury class.

What's New for 2026
The 2026 Q3 is a brand-new, third-generation model, completely redesigned from the ground up. Audi didn't just update the styling; it re-engineered nearly every part of the SUV, with a new exterior, upgraded interior, improved powertrain, expanded technology, and enhanced driver-assistance systems.

The redesign is part of Audi's biggest product launch ever, and the Q3 features many of the innovations introduced on the brand's larger, more expensive models.

Model and Pricing
Unlike earlier models that offered Premium, Premium Plus, and Prestige trims, the 2026 Audi Q3 now comes in a single S line quattro trim starting at $43,700, plus a $1,295 destination fee. Buyers can customize the SUV with packages such as the Technology Package and Driver Assistance Package, as well as the available 20-inch Wheels Package. However, the standard equipment list is already quite comprehensive and feels well-equipped.

Powertrain and Performance
Power originates from Audi's upgraded 2.0-liter TFSI turbocharged inline-four engine, delivering 255 horsepower and 273 lb-ft of torque. That's a boost of 27 horsepower and 22 lb-ft compared to the previous Q3. The engine is combined with a quick-shifting 7-speed S tronic dual-clutch transmission and Audi's renowned quattro all-wheel-drive system.

Those numbers immediately improve the driving experience. From the moment I pressed the accelerator, the Q3 felt noticeably quicker and more responsive than its predecessor. Whether merging onto a busy interstate, passing slower vehicles on a two-lane highway, or navigating stop-and-go city streets, the turbocharged engine delivered smooth, confident acceleration with almost no noticeable turbo lag.

Although my drive was on dry roads, Audi's standard quattro all-wheel drive continues to boost confidence. The system helps keep the SUV balanced and will definitely be useful in rain, snow, and other tough road conditions.

Fuel Economy
For a luxury SUV that delivers 255 horsepower and comes with standard all-wheel drive, fuel economy is impressive. EPA estimates of 22 mpg city and 29 mpg highway make the Q3 a practical daily driver while still offering some of the quickest acceleration times in its class.

Driving Impressions
The biggest surprise during my drive was how refined the new Q3 feels. Audi has successfully combined sporty performance with the comfort expected from a premium luxury vehicle.

The suspension smoothly absorbed uneven pavement, expansion joints, and rough city streets while remaining steady through sweeping curves and highway ramps. Steering was also accurate, creating a true connection between the driver and the vehicle without the need for constant corrections.

Around town, the compact size made parking easy, while the elevated seating offered great visibility in traffic. Even though it's Audi's smallest SUV, the Q3 never feels cramped or basic. Instead, it handles with the confidence and maturity of a much larger luxury crossover.

Exterior Design
As I approached the vehicle, it immediately appeared more substantial than the outgoing model. From every angle, the design shows sophistication without seeming too aggressive. The redesigned exterior makes the Q3 appear more confident. A wider grille, sleeker LED headlights, sculpted body lines, and bold wheel arches give it a more athletic look and a strong street presence.

Interior Comfort and Craftsmanship
The cabin is where the Q3 makes its biggest leap forward. The first thing I noticed was the impressive attention to detail. Soft-touch materials, refined trim pieces, and exceptional fit and finish create an interior that closely resembles Audi's more expensive Q5 and Q7 models.

The redesigned dashboard also emphasizes the driver's experience, featuring large, easy-to-read digital displays. The front seats stayed supportive during my drive, while rear-seat passengers can enjoy plenty of legroom for a compact luxury SUV.

Technology
Audi's latest infotainment system is among the highlights of the new Q3. The updated MMI interface responds quickly, has sharp graphics, and is much more intuitive than previous versions.

The 11.9-inch Audi Virtual Cockpit and 12.8-inch touchscreen work seamlessly together, allowing you to customize driving information while easily accessing navigation, media, and vehicle settings with minimal distraction.

Safety/Driver Assistance
The available driver-assistance features enhance confidence behind the wheel. Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane-Centering Assist, Blind-Spot Monitoring, Rear Cross-Traffic Alert, Automatic Emergency Braking, Traffic Sign Recognition, and the optional 360-degree camera system all function smoothly without feeling intrusive.

Instead of taking control of the driving experience, these technologies quietly assist the driver and help reduce stress in heavy traffic.
