ADVOCATE: A new film about advocacy, mentorship, and the cost of doing right! ___________________________________________ Dear Friends and Colleagues, My name is Stacie McClam. I'm a former teacher turned writer and director of MR. ADVOCATE, a new independent film. A first-year teacher starts something new with his students at a school built around test scores. His principal makes clear that innovation is welcome, as long as nothing actually changes. The film is about what it costs him to stay. It centers around Black male educators and deals with school politics, mental health, grief, and AI in the classroom. Logline: When a new teacher's AI show turns a test-obsessed school upside down, his principal makes it clear that innovation is welcome, as long as it doesn't change anything. I'd like to bring a screening built around a facilitated discussion to your campus. I can travel and I'm flexible on format, whether that's a department event, a first-year seminar, a campus-wide screening, or something tied to programming that you already have planned. I have a 30-minute and 50-minute version of the film available, I'm glad to send to a screener.
