Parasite tries to extort $1.5 Million from Oprah

Parasite tries to extort $1.5 Million from Oprah
Posted By: Rodney Ragsdale on January 08, 2007

An Atlanta, GA man has been charged with trying to extort $1.5 million from Oprah Winfrey by threatening to release recorded telephone conversations he claimed would hurt her reputation, according to the FBI and published reports.

He wanted to publish a book based on the tapes and claimed he received offers of $500,000 to $3 million from tabloids and book publishers.

The Blackmailer received an advance of $3,000 in earnest money and arranged to turn the tapes over (to an undercover FBI Agent) for the rest of the $1.5 million.

1. Oprah is a BILLIONAIRE /PHILANTHROPIST.
How could this idiot think she would not have the resources to make the law work for her?

2.

Does this justify why rich and famous actors/ athletes carry weapons and are generally paranoid of criminals, leeches, parasites, family and so-called friends who want to take their money, life and / or tarnish their name?

3. I used to look down upon famous people who traveled with an entourage of body guards, but after seeing what happened to……. Darrent Williams (Bronco killed outside nightclub), Ray Lewis (Friends killed hostile patron outside nightclub), Tank Johnson (Body guard killed hostile patron outside nightclub), Paul Pierce (stabbed in nightclub). I can see how their LIFE can be in danger.

There’s gotta be a better way to make a dollar?

This situation makes me pose one more question.

Is blackmail a crime of greed or desperation ?

Ok, so Oprah sacrificed a lot to get where she is, I know she had to cause I sacrifice alot and I'm not even internationally known and respected for my craft, anyway, I think it's a slap in the face to work that hard and folks try to get a dollar cause you happen to be imperfect and human. So yea, morally it is a crime of greed and desperation and a crime of character. Then people wonder why those with the most clout get jaded!!!!!
