Posted By: L D Horne on January 16, 2007 My Poetry My poetry is a means to an end If personified, she is a good friend Through whom I can vent nonfigurative introspective Or philosophical, metaphorical, lyrical perspective My expression of my self image indeed One of Maslow's hierarchy of needs So I proceed to provide my inner feelings Like I said in I love Her, or my dealings See poetry is not me But she peers into my psyche Will tell you who I happen to be Tell you what has happened to me She is not me, but she tells the story of me Through my delivery Which is abstract communication Subject matter whatever, from spiritual to relations I can't speak for everyone but my poetry: Is one component of therapeutic synergy At the times I need to release positive kinetic energy And that potential energy Had the ability In its density to be destructive Or the propensity to give Like electricity awaiting the on switch could kill But channeled through our appliances that energy will Produce-use-full product for the masses or just myself My poetry to me exercises my brain's strength and mental health God gave me this gift as well A conceptual way to tell That story of me, my opinions or beliefs Even secular means can cause relief I do not have delusions of grandeur I like to share my poetic vernacular Instead of hiding my talent underground The local poetry spot is where I can be found My poetry doesn't make me who I am My poetry is a means to an end If you enjoyed this article, Join HBCU CONNECT today for similar content and opportunities via email! |
