Posted By: Joshua Smith on February 07, 2007 Have we defeated ourselves? In the search for riches and fame have we as a culture and a people defeated ourselves? I often ask myself this as I watch the television and turn through magazines where our woman pose in sexual positions just to sale a name that we don’t even own. Ok here’s the deal when we were in slavery we were bred to be bigger to do more work and for entertainment, it seems as if those times are here once again if you don’t agree turn the television on and watch black entertainment television and take a close look at what its content is. I highly doubt a woman shaking her ass was derived by slaves back in those times as entertainment and to see it now a days every time I turn the television is almost becoming cliché in a since. But to look from where we came from to where we are now is almost like “WOW” this is what my folks had to deal with for me and my generation just to wash it away with ignorance I can only say one thing in this world is a constant and that would be business and capitalism. No matter how it is done business will be made and services and good will be exchanged for capital, its just up to us to tap this resource without sacrificing who we are as a people. How ever crude my words are the message is clear business over ignorance is what we should be striving for instead of back peddling and re-submitting history before we had control of our destinies.
