Soulmates: Do they exist?

Soulmates: Do they exist?
Posted By: Soncel'ra Bankston on April 20, 2007

What exactly is a soul mate? The one person in all the world, in all your life, who is meant to love you and only you? Who understands you deeply and fully and accepts you for who you are? Who you are destined to be with, if only you can find each other . . . in this lifetime?
I understand the draw to the idea of a soul mate: it carries with it a mystical, larger-than-life quality, as if a person were sent to you from the past or the future, a divine emissary, cast from the hand of God. It's also a great romantic idea: how better to re-imagine our lives or current relationship than through the lens of "if only I knew my soul mate." With this soul mate by your side, your life would be perfect, right? You wouldn't feel sad, stressed, or alone? Everything in your life would fall into place . . . as if my magic.

You've probably know that I am a reluctant believer in the concept of a soul mate. I think it's an abstract ideal that can often be a distraction to us, keeping our heads in the stars rather on what is real, and full of life in the here and now. If someone gets attached to such an ideal, they are less likely to feel motivated to accept and love the people who are in their lives. They are less likely to accept themselves as imperfect as well. They are also less likely to try to make a loving relationship work.

However, some do believe that soul mates can be created. We all can learn to love more fully, forgive imperfections (our own as well as those of the people we love in our lives), and in that spirit, give that person, that partner, that spouse, the potential to be a soul mate. Me, well, let's just say it's not for me anymore. I have a heart that can never be healed, glued or nailed together again.

Me personally, I don't think there is a soul mate in the traditional sense that everyone has associated the term with. Because technically you wouldn't know if someone was your soul mate until you both have grown old together. I don't think it is possible to "know" when you have meet your soul mate because we all have been in really good relationships before. And if someone were to ask you then if they were your soul mate you would have said yes. But all relationships seem good at the beginning and this is why I don't think it is able for you to know when you have meet your soul mate. I searched the web for the definition of a soul mate and it is, "One of two persons compatible with each other in disposition, point of view, or sensitivity", so this shows you that this could even be more than one person.

Soncelra,

You mentioned that you have a heart that can never be healed, glued or nailed together again. The reason why is because you have a soul-tie. You've gotten connected with some one whom you've thought was your soulmate; however, you got bamboozal in the long halt. Yet if you want honestly want your heart to be healed, you can have it right now. It's called letting go and letting God. I'm not trying to be Mr. Religious. Yet real is real. There is a quote that says, "the reason why so many people can't get married is because they haven't first gotten a divorce." That leads to this statement. Having a soulmate has more to do with the Law of Attraction. And when things go sour, that Law of Attraction turns into the Law of Dis-traction. Meaning that one never loses their soulmate when they allow what happened to them keeps them from moving forward. That's an area of bondage.

So do soulmates exist? I believe so. Because whomever you mate yourself with, they'll determine the next direction of your life.

As I've stated, whomever you mate yourself with will determine the next direction of your life. Eve wasn't Adam's soulmate. She was his helpmeet. And his helpmeet just magnified what he thought he needed. That's the law of Attraction.
