TODAY (MAR. 03): For Once, Bobby Avoids Jail THE FACTS: • Bobby Brown has agreed to do one year of community service to avoid drug charges. THE SPIN: If you’re driving down a Boston road and hear a trash man singing, “Every Little Step,” you may be in the presence of royalty. “The King of R&B” has achieved a personal feat in the first quarter of the year: for once he won’t be going to jail. A few months ago, Brockton, Mass. police responded to a fight outside of a Holiday Inn where they found Bobby Brown in an SUV with traces of cocaine residue inside of the vehicle. Last week Brown attended a closed-door hearing on whether or not he would be locked up. Fortunately, times have finally changed for Brown. Instead of going to jail, the King will perform various community service duties over a year -- including speaking to children. Just what every child needs: life lessons from Bobby Brown.
