Position Title: Co-Leader (Translational Research) of the Sylvester Brain Tumor

POSITION SUMMARY

At Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center, our goal is to reduce the devastating burden of cancer through research, education, and the delivery of the finest patient care. Today, UHealth plays a vital role in the community thanks to our groundbreaking research and patient care for people in Florida, the Caribbean, and Central and South America. Aligned with these goals, the Co-Leader (Translational Research) of the SBTI leads a multi-disciplinary team of skilled surgeons, physicians, nurses, and researchers from multiple departments and organizes the group with a mission toward developing new treatments for brain tumor patients with a focus on translational research.

JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

The goal of the Co-Leader (Translational Research) is to work with the team at the SBTI to advance the treatment of brain and other central nervous system tumors by translating scientific progress into novel treatments, while providing crucial resources and support to patients, their families, and caregivers.

  • Ensures the team can provide cutting-edge therapies to brain tumor patients
  • Ensures the team can advance brain cancer research and develop novel strategies
  • Ensures the team offers the most promising clinical trials
  • Ensures the team provides the resources and support necessary to patients and their families
  • Communicates with members regarding attendance, quorum, assignments, meeting issues, and reviews.
  • Attends meetings, document attendance and actions, and ensure there are meeting minutes
  • Advances the work of the SBTI to the point of becoming an Institute and the destination for Brain Cancer Care.
  • Seeks funding opportunities and interacts with donors to increase philanthropic support.
