Job Title: Assistant/Associate Professor of Clinical Pediatrics- Pediatric Cardiac Intensivist/Associate Medical Director of Cardiac Intensive Care

Department/Hospital: Pediatric Cardiology/Children's Heart Center

The Division of Pediatric Cardiology and the UHealth/Jackson Children's Heart Center is recruiting a cardiac intensivist who will also serve as associate clinical director of cardiac intensive care medicine. Candidates must have an MD or DO degree, hold an active Florida state medical License (or be eligible), be board-certified in Pediatrics, and hold any of the following subspecialty qualifications: a) dual board certification/eligibility in pediatric critical care medicine and pediatric cardiology, b) board certification/eligibility in pediatric critical care medicine with significant cardiac critical care experience, c) or board certification/eligibility in pediatric cardiology with formal advanced clinical training in cardiac intensive care medicine (minimum of 12 months). This is a full-time faculty position at the Assistant or Associate Professor level (Clinical Pediatrics) within the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine Department of Pediatrics. The faculty member will serve as attending physician responsible for the care of critically ill and stepdown pediatric and adult congenital cardiac medical and surgical patients, including those with heart failure, or on mechanical circulatory support receiving care in the pediatric cardiac ICU or other locations within the health system. Clinical service time will be commensurate with the Division needs with a benchmark of 14-16 weeks and time allocated for administrative duties to drive clinical care protocol development and oversight of patient care safety and quality. The CICU Associate Clinical Director will report to the Division Chief of Pediatric Cardiology and will work closely with the Heart Center Co-Directors and other institutional leadership to optimize patient experience, enhance interdisciplinary collaboration, and drive care systems development.

This position entails a commitment to the teaching of pediatric critical care and pediatric cardiology fellows, advanced practice providers (ARNPS and PAs), nursing, and other unit-based staff. The faculty member will also be expected to participate in various University and Hospital-driven training and educational activities, including quality improvement and care process initiatives. Faculty are strongly encouraged to pursue basic science or clinical research interests, which will require separate efforts to obtain outside grant funding wherever possible.
