Professional growth and development opportunities A healthy work/life balance to all employees POSITION HIGHLIGHTS Full Time, 40 hours per week Monday through Friday | 8:30am-5:00pm Location: Hartford, CT Hybrid schedule. Currently DECD employees are required to be in the office for one day (Wednesday) a week. Days in the office may increase. THE ROLE The position will focus on industry-specific programming, including, but not limited to, innovation. This role evolves the sector focus beyond innovation economy, to better encapsulate the economic opportunities associated with an all-of-the-above innovation and technology strategy and focus on industry needs. In the near-term, the role continues to educate and assist companies through innovative operational efficiency initiatives. The role focuses on practical cost mitigation, strategic partnerships, and future-facing market opportunities. This position is critical to manage existing partnerships, federal grant programs, and other initiatives as well as to foster new relationships. ABOUT US DECD is the state's lead agency responsible for strengthening Connecticut’s competitive position in the rapidly changing, knowledge-based global economy. The agency takes a comprehensive approach to economic development that incorporates community development, transportation, education, and arts and culture. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - GENERAL EXPERIENCE Six (6) years of professional experience in corporate marketing and business development or business experience including residential and/or commercial financing to include leverage financing, strategic planning, financial planning and analysis or project management experience with industrial, environmental, housing or community development projects to include public financing or experience in urban planning and development. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - SPECIAL EXPERIENCE One (1) year of the General Experience must have been at the level of Assistant Economic and Community Development Agent. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - SUBSTITUTIONS ALLOWED College training may be substituted for the General Experience on the basis of fifteen (15) semester hours equalling one-half (1/2) year of experience to a maximum of four (4) years for a Bachelor's degree. A Master’s degree in a related field may be substituted for one (1) additional year of the General Experience. Successful completion of a Connecticut Careers Trainee program approved by the Department of Administrative Services may be substituted for the General Experience and Special Experience.
