Job Description
Company Management Apprentice
This is an entry level position and a great opportunity to gain experience under the mentorship of the General Manager and Producing Directors. Each week, the Apprentice can expect to work roughly 20/hrs in Company Management and 20/hrs in another area of their choosing. This is a learning position and almost any part of the theatre operation is available to apprentices to observe or participate in. Past apprentices have assisted with costumes, sat in on rehearsals, read stage directions in readings, and worked in the Community Engagement, Education, and Marketing Departments.

It is not expected that the apprentice has prior experience. But it is expected that the apprentice will be diligent about asking for help and instruction as needed and will progress into an independent worker by the end of the apprenticeship. This apprenticeship is designed for someone who is hard working, smart, and eager, but lacking professional theatre experience.

There are three apprenticeship sessions per year. We are currently hiring for the fall session which begins no later than September 1, 2026 and ends on January 15, 2027.

• Communicating with visiting artists to ensure they have what they need.
• Being on call for emergencies on evenings and weekends.
• Serving as monitor for auditions in Bristol, Philadelphia and New York as needed.
• Assisting the General Manager and Producing Directors as needed.

BENEFITS: Housing (including utilities), and flexible holidays.

Company Description:
Bristol Riverside Theatre is a mid-sized regional theatre whose mission is to engage audiences and artists with exceptional performances, inspired writing, and superior productions that motivate us to think harder, to feel more deeply, to laugh more joyfully, and to reflect on ourselves and the world in which we live. Located in historic Bristol Borough, the theatre has a full-time staff of 14 employees, with most senior staff having been with the organization for at least 10 years. BRT is deeply rooted in its community, has long-term relationships within the town, and is proud of its role as the cultural hub of Bristol Borough. Annually, BRT produces a mainstage season of 5 plays and musicals, a presented season of 4-8 productions, The William Penn Bank Summer Music Fest (9 weekends of music in two venues), and has robust new play development and education programming. Last year, the leadership structure changed from an Artistic Director/Managing Director model to one led by two Co-Producers, each responsible for a portion of the annual producing portfolio. The new leadership is emphasizing a commitment to new play development and serving a diverse community with stories that address the breadth of the human experience. We are committed to building a team that represents a variety of backgrounds and perspectives.
