About   (request update)
Dr.Lorneka S Joseph was born August 15th in Nassau, Bahamas. She is the eldest of two children.

Dr.Lorneka’s pharmacy career began at 15 years-old in her hometown. She enrolled in the Bio-Chemistry program at The College of The Bahamas. Three semesters later, Lorneka withdrew from classes because she had to take her mother to Cuba for medical attention where it was discovered that she had multiple sclerosis. She died two months later in Cuba in 2003. Her mother’s misdiagnosis became her motivation for becoming a pharmacist.
In 2005, Dr.Lorneka relocated to Miami, attended Miami-Dade College, received an associate of arts in chemistry and began working at Walgreens in 2007 as certified pharmacy technician. While at MDC, she entered the Miss Bahamas Organization and won the Miss Critical Beauty Bahamas 2008 title and Best Alluring Smile Award.

Dr.Lorneka attended Florida A&M University in Tallahassee where she recently received her doctorate of pharmacy. Lorneka also has a background in Journalism. She was first published as a health writer for the FAMUAN and an online women’s magazine called L.I.V.E. Dr.Lorneka now writes health and relationship articles for an international magazine called Women of Standard magazine. Currently volunteering her gifts and talents, she believes that her sacrifice will continue to open more doors for her.

Community service:“The 2011 Christmas Big Give” at All Saints Camp and a Back-to-school Big Give in 2012. Dr.Lorneka currently mentors teenagers and young women here in Miami and Tallahassee. Being mentored herself, she believes that her accomplishments mean nothing if she does not help others become successful in life as well.

She has a passion for youth, HIV and empowering women. She loves spending time with family, attending Junkanoo (festival) and teaching. Dr.Lorneka enjoys writing, singing and working in ministry.

A certified HIV/AIDS counselor, Dr.Lorneka is a member of the National Pharmacy Leadership Society and National Association of Black Journalists. She lives by Matthew 6:33- “Seek ye first the kingdom of God and everything else shall be added unto you.”

Her goal is to marry both worlds of pharmacy and journalism to help communities all around the world become healthy and whole.
