I have not had much work experience due to playing sports (basketball, football, and cross county) for 4 years in high school and maintaining a 3.4 GPA, but I have a month of food service experience at Bojangles where I currently work as a summer job until August when I leave for TSU. In school, I made honor roll, All-District in basketball, and I received a Football Scholar Award. I am a member of the Key Club, Upward Bound Educational Program, and Boys to Men Ministry Mentorship Program.

Current Whereabouts:

I like to play the PS5 basketball and hang out with friends at the mall. When I am home, I am a positive example for my younger brother and we spend time together. He looks up to me.

Life & Professional Aspirations:

I am interested in the business management field, where the focus is on finance. I like the idea of strategic planning and helping direct a company's finances to reach their goal and achieve objectives. I believe the scholarship will help ease the burden of my mother worrying about how we can afford college, and I can focus on educational opportunities and have more financial freedom in the future. My mother is a single mother, and she has taken great care of my brother and me. My mother graduated from college and had to borrow student loans, and she often talks about how hard it was paying and including it as a bill for her education, and how long it took her to pay them back. I also feel that a scholarship will let potential employers see my dedication and hard work. In high school, I retained a 3.4 GPA while playing sports all year round. The scholarship can allow me to focus on my studies and personal growth, and it can help me achieve my professional and academic goals. My mother, father, and grandmother graduated from college, and they received a degree and I would like to follow their footsteps and continue to make them very proud. They often talk about the social aspect of college life and how they enjoyed living on campus, meeting people with different backgrounds and perspectives, and building relationships that they will never forget. I want a chance to enjoy this as well. Another reason that I am looking forward to attending college and being considered for this scholarship is because I genuinely love learning and college will give me the opportunity to learn new things, continue to grow, and reshape how I may see the world. I believe that college will push critical thinking, problem-solving, writing, reading, and new ways on how to analyze messy problems that I may use in everyday life, and not just follow instructions. I believe that I will thrive in total freedom. With receiving a scholarship, it can help me invest in my future career and give me the foundation to contribute to my field. A scholarship can help motivate me to maintain good grades and to continue to strive for excellence. I am ready to take on any challenges that come with it and prove something to myself and my family.
