About   (request update)
Julia Browne is the founder and CEO of Walking The Spirit Tours, the original tours of Black Paris. She launched the company in 1994 after studying under Sorbonne Emeritus Professor Michel Fabre, founder of the Centre For African American Studies at the Sorbonne Nouvelle. What started as a passion for sharing information grew into a series of exciting, educational tours and expert travel planning services that blend heritage tourism with the traditional delights of France.

British-born, Canadian-raised and French by affinity, Julia lived and raised her family in Aix-en-Provence and Paris for 15 years. She is a Certified Destination France Specialist who loves creating personalized, experiential discovery excursions in Paris and to Josephine Baker’s chateau in Dordogne, James Baldwin’s Nice, and Richard Wright’s Normandy.

Her tours have been featured on CNN Traveler, The Wall Street Journal, Cosmopolitan (France), Out and About in Paris, Invisible Paris.

Julia is formerly an award-wining broadcaster and filmmaker. Alongside the tours, she is a travel writer, and author of the blog Spirit of Black Paris. As a captivating speaker, Julia gives lively multimedia presentations to educational and cultural organizations.
