Sylvia is a graduate of Spelman College where she received her Bachelor’s degree in psychology, a graduate of Mercer University with a degree in mental health counseling and is currently pursuing her Doctoral degree in Human Services/Social Work at Walden University. Sylvia serves as the secretary of TUA National Honor Society, Alpha Chi Chapter at Walden University. She is the owner, of C.T.C. Events in GA. C.T.C stands for connecting through Christ. C.T.C Events is a fairly new, Christian based networking and event planning business that hosts upscale corporate events, youth events, business mixers, gospel showcases, clean comedy shows and professional networking events to help raise funds for community agencies. Sylvia currently works as a licensed professional counselor any spare time is spent building her private practice – Integrated Family Counseling & Consulting Services. She has over 10 years of experience working in the social service field with children, adults and families from all socio economic backgrounds, race and ages. Her 10 years of professional and volunteer experiences have made her a valuable asset to every organization she’s worked with. This is not only because of her educational background, diversified work experience, her passion to help children and families but because of her determination to continue to successfully accomplish her career goals. Her professional and volunteer experiences have included working as a team leader, tutor, mentor, therapeutic resident adviser, children's case manager, parent educator, crisis counselor, after school program director, social services counselor, paraprofessional, community clinician, intake counselor, referral manager, and foster care records investigator. As a hobby, Sylvia also spends time reaching children and youth through “creative arts” (mime, drama, dance). Her next venture involves establishing a youth arts center for at risk children and youth.
