My name is Keyunna Marie White. I'm 24yrs old and I'm from Los Angeles California. I'm the first to graduate from a 4year college in my family. I was not the best apple of the bunch but I choose to make a future for myself. My family is my motivation. I didn't think I would go to college but one day I decided to go to The Black College Expo where I was accepted by many but Shaw University stole my heart. I was interested in going to a HBCU but this one had so much history I had to say yes. Soon after I told my mother I had been accepted and that I was going to college. I didn't know what to do but I knew I was going. Soon after I moved to NC with my father and his girlfriend and they both got me ready for this journey. Yes I had ups and downs because I wasn't in my element but I adjusted my self. I became involved I was on the Lady Bears Softball Team where I was a pitcher. I then became a Resident Advisor by this point I was on a roll. I decided to join the women's bowling team. These different experiences taught me Endurance, Determination, and Perseverance. After graduating I applied to many schools but I wanted to change it up I wanted to prove a point that God had not brought me this far to stop. I applied for Cal State Long Beach where I was denied and I applied for University of South Carolina where I was excepted into the Advanced Standing Social Work Masters Program. I'm currently in my 2nd semester and will be graduating May 2014 with my MSW in Social Work. I plan to not only just make a difference but start a movement the "Education is the key to a successful career" movement. I'm doing this for everyone who said that I wasn't college material. I can truly say "I started from the bottom now I'm here." Drake.

Life & Professional Aspirations:

To become a director of Mental Health as well as an Educator and maybe even working in the Military field

I was not giving a Graduate Assistant-ship. after advocating and proving that my place in this program was not in vain I was giving a Graduate Research Assistantship.

Most Memorable Moment:

Playing softball and being out of my element. Going to an HBCU was an awesome experience.
