I’m a marketing student at Howard University passionate about entertainment, cultural storytelling, and experiential marketing. Growing up between Tokyo, Toronto, and Washington, D.C. shaped my interest in representation, media, and how culture influences identity and community. I’ve gained experience through opportunities with The Coca-Cola Company, TikTok, HelloFresh, Walmart, JPMorgan Chase, and Gonez Media across social media, partnerships, content strategy, and live activations. Long-term, I hope to break barriers as a Black and Asian woman in entertainment marketing while creating culturally impactful experiences that make people feel seen, inspired, and connected.
Current Whereabouts:
Right now, I’m really into cultural marketing, live events, and studying how entertainment shapes communities and identity. I love analyzing music rollouts, fan engagement, and experiential campaigns, especially within hip-hop and Black entertainment. I’ve also been very invested in conversations around mental health advocacy for Black students and creatives, particularly how storytelling and media can help reduce stigma and make people feel less alone.
Outside of that, I’m into fashion, beauty, content creation, and discovering how different cultures express themselves through style and music. Growing up between Tokyo, Toronto, and now Howard University made me fascinated by how trends and communities move globally. I’m also really passionate about mentorship, networking, and helping other students from underrepresented backgrounds navigate opportunities they may not have been exposed to before.
Life & Professional Aspirations:
My life aspiration is to become a leader in entertainment and cultural marketing while breaking barriers as a Black and Asian woman in industries where people like me are still underrepresented. I want to create campaigns, live experiences, and media moments that make people feel seen, inspired, and emotionally connected, especially young people navigating identity, confidence, and belonging the way I once did.
Professionally, I hope to work within entertainment, music, and media spaces learning how major cultural moments are built through storytelling, partnerships, production, and audience engagement. Long-term, I want to become both a creative strategist and public figure who uses her platform to inspire others, advocate for mental health awareness in Black communities, and mentor students from underserved and multicultural backgrounds.
More personally, one of my biggest goals is creating financial stability and peace for my mother after everything she sacrificed for me. She brought me from Japan to Canada with only four suitcases and faith that our lives could become something greater. Everything I work toward is rooted in making that sacrifice worth it while showing other young girls that their background does not limit their future.
My “claim to fame” in college has been turning cultural storytelling and creativity into real opportunities. I’ve become known for being someone who can connect culture, media, and marketing in a way that feels authentic and impactful, whether that’s through developing a Coca-Cola x Dairy Queen campaign concept that reached Coca-Cola leadership, creating award-winning Gen Z marketing content for HelloFresh, or helping grow student engagement through social media campaigns at Howard University’s School of Business.
Beyond internships and campaigns, I think people also know me for my ability to build connections and create opportunities out of almost nothing. Coming from a low-income and multicultural background, I had to learn how to network, advocate for myself, and get into rooms I was never directly invited into. Because of that, I’ve become someone other students often come to for guidance on internships, branding, networking, and navigating professional spaces.
Most importantly, I want my “claim to fame” to be resilience. Despite family trauma, financial hardship, and mental health struggles, I’ve continued pushing forward while maintaining a strong academic record and pursuing opportunities in media, entertainment, and marketing. I want people to remember me as someone who never allowed her circumstances to define her future.
Most Memorable Moment:
One of my most memorable college experiences was my freshman year living with three other first-generation college students, all from completely different backgrounds but connected through resilience, ambition, and survival. None of us came from wealth or perfect situations, but we built a genuine sisterhood while navigating college and adulthood for the first time together.
That year felt like we experienced every emotion possible. We supported each other through academic pressure, family loss, heartbreaks and crushes, mental health struggles, health scares, and moments where we genuinely questioned ourselves and our futures. At one point, we even accidentally got involved with what turned out to be a cult-like organization near campus, which became a surreal but important lesson about vulnerability, belonging, and protecting ourselves spiritually and emotionally while away from home.
What made the experience so meaningful was how deeply we relied on one another. Our dorm floor became a real community. We stayed up late talking about life, pushed each other academically, celebrated each other’s wins, cried together, and learned how to build our own sense of family away from home. Coming from difficult backgrounds individually, we unintentionally created a support system that helped all of us survive one of the hardest transitions of our lives.
Looking back, that experience taught me that college is not just about academics or careers. It is also about healing, community, and finding people who remind you that you are not carrying everything alone.
