Claim To Fame:
My claim to fame at Jackson State University is my commitment to leadership, service, and academic excellence. As a freshman, I quickly became involved in Student Government, serving as Freshman Class Vice President and later being appointed Executive Cabinet Treasurer while also serving on the 81st SGA President’s Cabinet. These opportunities allowed me to represent my peers, help organize initiatives, and contribute to the growth of the student body. Beyond Student Government, I have dedicated myself to leadership and personal development through organizations such as Men of Excellence, Blue Streak Mentorship Program, and RUF Men. Being selected into Men of Excellence, one of the university’s most prestigious men’s organizations, reinforced my commitment to service, brotherhood, and excellence. Through mentorship programs and campus involvement, I have worked to support and encourage fellow students while continuing to grow as a leader myself. Academically, I have remained focused on success in the classroom, earning Dean’s List recognition, maintaining Honors Student status, becoming a member of the National Society of Leadership and Success, and improving my GPA from a 3.3 in my first semester to a 3.8 in my second semester. My claim to fame is not one position or achievement, but my ability to balance leadership, service, and academic excellence while making a positive impact on my campus community.
Most Memorable Moment:
My most memorable college experience was attending Homecoming at Jackson State University for the very first time. Growing up in Kansas City, Missouri, I came from a family and community with little to no connection to Historically Black Colleges and Universities. Because of that, I had always heard people talk about HBCU Homecoming, but I never truly understood the excitement and pride behind it until I experienced it for myself. Homecoming was more than just a football game or a week of events. It was a celebration of culture, tradition, school spirit, and community. Seeing thousands of students, alumni, and supporters come together to celebrate Jackson State University was an unforgettable experience. The energy on campus, the fellowship, the events, and the sense of pride that everyone shared made me realize how special the HBCU experience truly is. As a first-generation HBCU student in my family, Homecoming gave me a deeper appreciation for the opportunities and relationships I have gained at Jackson State.
