Applications are available for the 2013 Ohio Minority Engineering Student Scholarship Program (OMESSP), announced today by the Ohio Black Legislative Caucus Foundation, the Central Ohio Alumni Extension of the National Society of Black Engineers, CT Consultants, Inc., and New Visions Group, LLC.

The Ohio Minority Engineering Student Scholarship Program offer four $2,500.00 scholarships to African American student enrolled in an accredited Ohio college or university engineering program.

The program is open to freshman and upper classmen. To be eligible for the OMESSP, applicants must meet the following requirements:

Freshman applicants must be declared as an engineering major, have a cumulative high school GPA of 3.0 at the time of selection and maintain at least a 2.5 during the time they hold of scholarship.
Upper class students must have at least a 2.5 GPA at time of selection and maintain that grade point average during the time they hold the scholarship.
All scholarship recipients must maintain a reasonable standard of conduct as defined by the OMESSP selection Committee, expected of scholarship students.

The OMESSP, established in 2009, is designed to provide financial assistance and possible internship opportunities to minority students enrolled in a civil engineering program at an accredited Ohio college or university. The scholarships are renewable upon reapplication by the student for up to three academic years. For information about the OMESSP, contact brandensmithone@gmail.com.
