Teachers College has created a unique opportunity for graduates of HBCUs, as part of our dedication to recruiting, training, and supporting excellence in teacher education to achieve social and educational equity in America.

The Diversity in Teacher Education Fellowship awards full tuition scholarships to up to three graduates from HBCUs, who best demonstrate an outstanding commitment to teacher education in urban areas. It is our hope that this Fellowship will support our growing relationship with graduates of HBCUs, and our dedication to improving education in high-need, public schools in New York City and across our nation.

As a graduate of an HBCU, you are eligible to apply for fellowship consideration to one of the teacher certification master's degree programs offered at Teachers College.

To submit an application for consideration to the Fellowship, you need to complete:

- TC Online Application - Start you online application at: tc.columbia.edu/apply

- Personal Statement*: In 2-3 pages, doubled-spaced, address your academic goals, your interest in high-demand areas of teaching in NYC, and the role of a teacher in challenging, high-need public schools. *The Fellowship Personal Statement is in addition to your statement of purpose in the general TC online application process.

- TC Scholarship Application: The TC scholarship application is now integrated into your TC application for admission.

All application materials must be submitted by January 15,2014
