Featherstone HBCU Scholarships at Coppin State University

The Featherstone Foundation works to mitigate the economic strain and achieve Academic Equity in Higher Education for underserved and traditionally underrepresented students.

In 2024, seven students will receive $3,000 merit-based awards to attend Coppin State University during the 2024-2025 school year. This innovative scholarship fund works to help increase access to four-year institutions for underrepresented communities.

  • College of Business – 2 awards

  • College of Arts, Sciences, and Education – 2 awards

  • College of Health Professions – 2 awards

  • College of Behavioral Social Sciences – 1 award


2024 Award Criteria

  • Applicants should complete the online application by the March 15 deadline. 
  • Scholarships are open to underrepresented communities such as international students, immigrants, Hispanic/Latinx heritage or racial minority groups, first-generation college students, and/or those with economic challenges to higher education. 

  • SAT/ACT scores will be considered

  • Cumulative 3.0 grade-point average (GPA)

  • Scholarships are open to high school seniors starting their first semester at Coppin State University, undergraduate students applying to transfer to CSU, and current CSU college freshmen, sophomores, juniors, seniors, and graduate students.

  • Awards are open to all majors.

  • Students should demonstrate involvement in extracurricular activities and

  • Complete essays outlining career goals and aspirations

  • Selected student winners will be required to attend an award ceremony on August 9, 2024 at The University of Baltimore.




Since 2017, the Featherstone Foundation has provided over $326,000 through 131 Featherstone Scholarships to students from 29 countries who speak over 44 languages and now attend 12 institutions
