I am a native of Charleston, South Carolina. I was born to Ivory Simmons and the late Lige Simmons. I am the eleventh of fourteen children. I have one son. I resided in Ten Mile Hill/Oak Grove Community during my childhood and young adult life. I attended Bethune Elementary, Alice Birney Middle School and R. B. Stall High School in North Charleston, South Carolina.

I am currently employed with Langston University as the University Registrar since 2008 and have worked in Higher Education for over 20 years. I have worked in Student Affairs, Enrollment Management and Academic Affairs. I have held positions in Admissions, Registrar’s Office, and Counseling Office at various higher education institutions. I have served as an enlisted member in the United States Air Force from 1986-1990 as a Sergeant.

Currently, I am pursuing my Doctor of Education in Higher Education Leadership with Walden University. I received my Masters of Arts in Pastoral Ministry at Erskine Theological Seminary, I received my Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration at Minot State University and received my Associates of Arts in Business (Executive Secretarial Science) at Trident Technical College.

I traveled within many states and a few countries to include Alabama, Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, California, Colorado, Georgia, Florida, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Nebraska, Nevada, North Carolina, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, North Dakota, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, Washington, Wyoming, Alaska, the Bahamas, Canada, Korea, Japan and Jamaica.

I am currently the Associate Minister at New Hope Missionary Baptist Church in Langston, Oklahoma. I teach Bible Study, Sunday School and oversee the Youth Ministry. I was licensed to preach in 1994 and was ordained in the ministry in 2003.

I am a member of the Langston Beautiful Club with is affiliated with Confederated Women Club and a member of Alpha Upsilon Omega Chapter, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated.

What are your aspirations in life?
Current Whereabouts:
Teaching Biblical Principles. I have completed a Corporate Daniel Fast (21 days) in month of January since 2008 and recently added a Prayer Line each weekday during the 21 day Fast since 2014.
